THE EVANGELICAL CATHOLIC: This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to speak to Deacon John Green of The Evangelical Catholic about what they have to offer Saint Agnes. It was a great conversation, and, although we just scratched the surface of their offerings, I found out that they have been helping parishes and campuses for over 25 years.
Two things stood out that I would like to mention. First, Jesus’ last words to the disciples before he ascended into heaven were not, “be disciples” but rather “make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19) It’s not good enough for us to be disciples of Christ; we need to go out and make disciples. We must go out, beyond the walls of our church building, and invite others into relationships with Jesus. Second, it’s not enough to advertise in the paper, send out postcards, or print things in the bulletin and expect people to show up. It’s incumbent upon us to personally invite others into small groups, Bible studies, and the like.
We’ll be discussing these ideas at the Pastoral Council meeting on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Barn. You are welcome to join us!
